Mom! I want to comb my own hair!

Those blue eyes just make my heart melt! I'm just so in love! Sometimes I even just spend time smelling my sweet baby, which may sound weird, but when you're a mommy you understand!

As Promised

Here are the photographs that I submitted that got me an A in my photography class! I thought photography would be a super easy class and that As wouldn't be hard to come by, but apparently those were misconceptions. Photography majors at the University I go to are pretty competitive and they have to wait till the end of their program almost to even take Basic Photography. So my fun class turned out to be a working fun class. I love it regardless, but I worked my butt off for this A, and submitted almost 400 files. Out of those 400 files here are the ones I made prints of to submit. The screen doesn't do these photos justice if I do say so myself. It's a black and white class too, so even though I am in love with color they had to be black and white.

We had to take a portrait of an individual 18 years or older. This is my dear friend, Candice.

We also had to do a self portrait, which was really hard for me. I never realized how self conscious I was to be in photographs and how intimate it ended up being with my standard 50mm lens. But here are the two photographs that I choose to make prints of:

I'm very pleased with the way they turned out.

ABC

As a mommy you take on many roles. Teacher is a big one. I love teaching Riley because she has such a desire and drive to learn, and I know I'm bias, but she is so darn smart! I cannot take all the teaching credit though. Riley does go to a Catholic preschool a few days a week where they learn, and I just try to reinforce what they learn while we are at home.

A few months ago I went down to the teacher supply store in our area and bought some preschool work books for my little monkey. She doesn't see them as being workbooks, but as a fun activity to do.

Not only do these workbooks teach her how to write her letters, upper and lowercase, but they also teach her to identify words that begin with the sounds that the letters make.

And! as if that wasn't enough, it teaches her delayed gratification, which I think is hard to teach in our society sometimes. Riley has to work hard and for each page she completes she gets a sticker on her path.

The path to the all coveted BIG BLUE RIBBON sticker! She's almost there!

An Update.

I am excited about Thanksgiving.

We need to have the lock changed on our front door because my key no longer works. In other words don't try rob our house anytime soon because I can't even break in.

I FINALLY got an A in my photography class with my project 2, that I will post the final pictures I submitted tomorrow on my blog!

I love driving my husbands truck, not because it's big and orange, but because it has his scent ingrained into it.

My sister in law's baby shower is in two weeks and I may be more excited about it than anyone. I even made my first diaper cake the other day!

I have been getting the baby crazies, but only for a minute, then realize how horrible that last month with Raigan was. haha

Today in my Community Health Nursing class we debated about vaccinations. We had to use reputable resources to back up our points, and it's pretty obvious that in most cases the benefits of vaccinating on schedule outweigh the risks of not. There are some cases that medically speaking (not opinion) that one should not be vaccinated, but that's where heard immunity comes into play. I also thought it was totally interesting that our teacher said that from the papers we submit each week she can almost expect our response to things and is able to tell our political stance.

I lost a blog follower after I wrote that I was an Obama supporter and can't help to think that me admitting that was the reason for them to unsubscribe from my blog.

Speaking of Obama, I think this site is pretty cool (excuse the vulgar language in the title please.)

Here are pictures of my gorgeous babies:

The end.

Finally... The Halloween Post

Haha first of all, doesn't Raigan's face crack you up? How can a baby be so serious? haha

This is as close as Riley got to the pumpkins. She is a girly girl and does not like the texture. I wish I could find the picture of Riley as a baby we have of her first experience with pumpkin Found it!

The funny thing is she made this same face this year when she touched the pulp. haha God love her. It is a family tradition that she has to take part it though, even if she just observes from a safe distance.

Raigan on the other hand, well... let just say we couldn't keep her hands off of it. Or her hands full of it out of her mouth!

She would sneak some when she thought we weren't looking and kept taking bites! I wasn't worried about the pulp (which I would imagine it to be healthy for you- although I have no knowledge on the matter at all) but the seeds and her choking on them, but she did just fine.

Don't those big blue eyes and tiny chubby fingers just make your heart melt?

Here are the end results:

                                   (Daddy's)                                                        (Mommy's)

                               (Riley's)                                                                    (Raigan's)

We were a family of crayons!

If you mix red and blue together you get baby purple crayons.

And no, I'm not sure why our front door is wide open?

Hub is such a good sport, not many men would dress up as a giant blue crayon and have fun with it. That's one of the things I love most about him, how playful he can be.

This was our modest loot. Riley didn't trick or treat for very long, which is okay because it's about the experience not the candy that is acquired. I'm afraid now that Raigan has experienced a raspberry dum dum we're all in trouble.

I hope your Halloween was filled with  love, family, costumes, pumpkins, candy, and fun memories too!

Happy Election Day!

Teaching my children is so important to me. I loved that I got to teach Riley the importance of voting. When we went into the polls I explained to her that you had to be 18 to vote. She kept asking if she could pretend to vote, and I told her sure! Then when we walked into the gym of our local elementary school (our voting place) they had this set up! For children to be able to vote! They had pictures of the candidates  and their names, and then two political issues related to children that they could vote on as well. Riley loved it, and I loved it for her. Her and I voted together (and Raigan slept), even if only mine counted.

We both got to sport these really cool stickers too all day!

I don't especially enjoy talking politics with other people, but I do like reading and educating myself on topics. You see, I'm a little hard headed and think my opinions are the right ones, so I don't like listening to others haha so I just read about them, that way I can close them at my discretion. It works for me.

Since this is my blog though, I'll say just a few things. I didn't vote for one party but one would think I would just vote democrat since I'm the only person left in American that supports Barack Obama. But in fact I voted for for a few from each party.I hope you were able to vote. It's something really special that we have that opportunity.

I love being an American! Happy Election Day!

Monday

This semester has given me a new take on my disliking of Mondays.

I would just like to let everyone know, because the Lord and I- and most likely my husband see my faults every day, that I am not perfect. I am not a super mom like many people tell me. I'm just some crazy young woman with two kids trying to make it through each day.

My house is almost always messy even 5 minutes after I clean it thanks to my toddler that has an affinity for undoing my doings.

I forget things. Most things. On a daily basis. And forget my mind from time to time. I even forget to put the time on my sister in law's baby shower invitations.

I can be very unkind when I'm stressed and am, sometimes  more often than I should be, mean to the one person that always stands by me and supports me.

When Riley cheers non stop, I get annoyed.

I work or even enjoy watching TV when I should playing with my children.

I choose to be a pessimist at times.

Sometimes I even would rather take a nap than do anything else.

It feels really good to admit to these things. I feel as though I work very hard and try my best.

But I'm sure glad that I have a husband, children, and God that love me anyways.

I'm sure I will be in a better mood when Monday is over.
