Five Question Friday

It's time for Five Question Friday with Mama M.

Is it really Friday again?! How did that happen? I am still accidentally writing 2009 on things! I guess that means I'm getting old...
1. Have you ever visited another country?

No, one of my new years resolutions was to get passports for our fam, but I'm running out of time.  They are so expensive, who knew?

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?

My work. It's like the twilight zone there. haha

3. What is your favorite season?

Summer! for sure! I need to move somewhere that is summer all the time.  Fall comes in a close second, I'm in love with pumpkin patch pictures!

4. What one song will always cheer you up?

Anything country. Big Green Tractor comes to mind, because my best friend Sarah and I were getting ready to go to the Brad Pasley concert this summer and I was all like wooo, we're gonna ride on a big green tractor and she was all like duh, that's Jason Aldene. Makes me laugh everytime I hear the song.

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?

haha what a  creative question! But I have no idea how to answer. I haven't seen any of the recent disney movies, I need to get on that.

Winton Woods Splash Park

It has been super hot here in the tristate this week. Almost too hot to even go swimming with the smog and heat alerts. But since it's back to school for Riley and I in a couple weeks, we're determined to enjoy the rest of the summer while we can. So I took my girls and my 8 year old brother in law to the splash park.

Winton Woods is a beautiful park with a whole aray of things to do. It's about a 30 minute drive from our house, but it's worth it. We have been there to visit Parky's Farm  that I wrote about here, which is a great thing to do on a rainy day. But this day wasn't rainy- it was scorching.

Everyone and their mom had the same idea that we did, because it was crowded!

The splash park is themed like Noah's Ark. Super cute! Inside the arch is a little hut and a slide that goes to the right of the picture.

Not too sure how I got a picture above this one without the kids in it, but this picture shows just how many hot little ones were cooling off at the splash park. There were a lot.

Riley was really reserved about going down the slide, but finally did, and has so much fun doing so.

She was so proud of herself!

I loved this little rainbow feature.

It's so hard to get a good picture of the both of them together. haha

The girls have about five matching bathing suits. No, I'm not obsessed... I'm not!

Raigan LOVES the water! She loves the pool, loves getting a bath, loves loves loves water in general.

If you live in the Cincinnati area, it's definitely a spot to take the babes! Here are the hours and prices.

Oh summer, just stttttttaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy forever.

A Little Weekend Project

My sweet babe is 7 months old now. I had all intentions of painting her room before she was born, but life was a little crazy then. Then she was born the day before Christmas Eve, and things were even more crazy. Then school started back and... well, you get the idea. So finally this weekend my Hub taped and primed the walls while I was at work, and then when I got off work we painted it together.

My mom would die if she knew I put this picture up. haha But this is the before picture. And a picture of Raigan, my mom, Riley, and the pug- oh and a mess.

This T Rex picture is perfect for a baby's room don't you think?
Riley thought so too. And that's not a shade, that's a blanket, just in case you were wondering.

The room was a pale yellow. Like an almost white pale yellow.

So we painted it a brighter yellow that we matched to the pillow from the Circo Love and Nature Collection.

I love how it turned out! And it only took almost a year.

Mamarazzi Monday

Mamarazzi Monday It's time for Mamarazzi Monday with Ann Maire at Household 6 Diva. We have been super busy these past few weeks. I have been trying to get things organized when school starts, and we are going on vacation next month to the beach! But I have still managed to snap a few photos of my girlies this week:

Riley is trying to fix Raigan's hair in this one, and I'm not so sure Raigan knows what to think about it. haha

Have a good week picture taking mommies!

Blog Hop

To make those not at the BlogHer10 Conference is in New York this weekend not feel left out, Robyn  at Pensieve is hosting a Blog Hop during BlogHer.

It works by writing a summary of your blog, link to her blog, and link to the Linky.

Here is the short version:
I'm Meg. I'm a twenty-something wife, mother, and student.

I love to blog about

  • my girls and our day to day life
  • the ways I have been learning to be a better wife and mother
  • parties
  • share my amateur photography skills
  • fun things to do in the greater Cincinnati area
  • my continuing struggle to live more simply and be more organized.
Join me for this crazy wonderful ride of life!

 Here is the longer version:

This is my story:

I love the Lord, and usually choose to keep my faith mostly to myself, even though this story is full of it. I've been dating my Husband since I was 16 and am more in love with him today then I was then. After having a tumor and my left ovary removed I longed for children more than ever! My oncologist told me that I would have trouble conceiving and would most likely have to do fertility treatments. My miracle happened when I found out I was pregnant with our first daughter, Riley, without treatments.

I started by blog, but kept it private.

A few years later at a doctor's appointment I asked about being able to conceive again, and the obgyn's response was, "Well, you got lucky once, maybe you'll get lucky again." Devastating words to hear. Even though I was in my second year of a BSN program and the timing was terrible, we starting trying for baby number two.

I deleted my blog.

I struggled to see other pregnant women,  clung to my faith, and pushed through the semester. Each time mother nature visited me, I cursed her name... not really but it was hard. One day I just decided that I would take a pregnancy test just to be sure, and was never so happy to see two lines! God had been working all along!

A few weeks later, I got my period. I went to the emergency room and it was the lowest I had ever felt in my entire life. I was having terrible cramps and expecting the worst, but asked the Lord to help me through whatever was going to happen. Waiting on the ultrasound took about 20 years, but when I heard that super fast heartbeat I burst into tears! Be strong in the Lord and never give up hope! I struggled through the next semester with a challenging pregnancy including months of preterm labor, but somehow finished all my finals and gave birth to our second daughter the day before Christmas Eve. What a gift!

I continue to trudge through finishing school, and would not have chosen a different path. So here I am. I restarted blog publicly this January, and love to look back over the year to see how far we've come, and am now hooked to blogging.

It's time for Five Question Friday with Mama M.

I try to do it every week, but you know, this silly thing called life gets in the way sometimes.
I cannot believe that it is already Friday! This summer has blown by!

So here are this week's questions:

1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper?

Messy for sure, I'm all over the place, can never get comfortable, rearrange pillows, kick my socks off, it's messy.

2. Fill in the blank. I wish I was more ______.

Patient! Patient with my husband, with my kids, with my mother's dog that is currently chewing something up, something important I'm sure. This is something I struggle with tremendously.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?

Motherhood. How much love you experience and how little sleep you get. I don't think I would have understood anyway if I had been warned until it actually happened.

4. What is the best thing you've ever found at a garage sale/flea market?

Nothing I've ever found at those is something I've actually needed, so I've stopped going to them because it's just extra clutter in my house that I don't need.

5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be?

A Chipotle vegetarian burrito and guacamole and chips. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmm
